Henry Bros wins £15m Nottingham mock hospital

Construction & Build

Henry Brothers Midlands has secured the job to build a £15m ‘mock hospital’ training facility at Nottingham Trent University.

The 34,000 sq ft building at NTU’s Clifton Campus will serve as the base for the university’s Institute of Health & Allied Professions, which trains healthcare professionals of the future.

Ian Taylor, managing director of Henry Brothers Midlands, said that work would get underway this month with completion set for January 2022.

One entire floor of the building will be dedicated to simulated hospital wards, consultation and counselling rooms, and even a flat for home and emergency care scenarios.

The settings will also feature lifelike patient manikins to give students the experience of working with men, women and children with a variety of injuries.

Two additional floors will provide office and flexible teaching spaces, including removable seating in lecture theatres to allow for creative learning approaches such as role play.

The scheme is being led by NTU’s capital projects group within the estates department.

As well as main contractor Henry Brothers – appointed under the Pagabo Framework – the delivery team includes external project managers, Edge, together with architect Pick Everard, and Turner & Townsend, Atkins and Waterman Group.
