Birmingham apartment development tops out

Construction & Build

JQ Rise will have more than 200 new units and is due to start welcoming residents in the summer

A new residential development in Birmingham has topped out.

JQ Rise on the edge of the city's historic Jewellery Quarter will have 226 apartments and communal gardens, with the first residents expected to move in this summer.

The scheme is being delivered by Birmingham-based developer and investor Prosperity Group.

JQ Rise is located on land fronting Summer Hill Road and Goodman Street on the site of a former Mini showroom.

The new apartments are spread across three blocks of four, eight and 25 storeys respectively. The building has topped out two years after groundworks were laid and the internal fit out is now under way.

All 226 new homes have already been sold ahead of completion.

JQ Rise is among several Prosperity Group-led projects being developed across Birmingham, with work set to begin on 146 new homes in Kent Street and 687 new homes in Digbeth later this year.

Chief executive Joe Billingham said: "I am delighted that we have now reached this milestone as we draw closer to completing the entire development of JQ Rise. It is a fantastic project for Birmingham and one that we are extremely proud of. It has seen us transform a brownfield site to deliver new homes as well as local growth and prosperity. JQ Rise is a key part of our exciting development pipeline for 2024."
